Welcome to my website. I am an artist, working in many mediums. Most often I paint in watercolor, but depending on the day and the subject I may use acrylics, pastels, mixed media, inks or collage. It is utter joy to paint; to revel in light and shadow; to get lost in color; to celebrate life in strokes and washes and glazes. To make a bold mark or a sensitive line. To explore and experiment, to experience the "aha!"
Lately I've been painting small format. It is great fun to produce a work that is only 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. These little gems require just as much attention to color, design and detail as do their larger cousins, the quarter, half and full sheet paintings.

I am someone who thirsts for inspiration. I must have it every day, and luckily, it is easy to find. I look to the birds on the balcony, the aggressive red-headed finch we call "Joe", the pair of doves, the white capped sparrows. Or I lift my eyes from the birds to the sea beyond - ever changing, ever-renewing. I watch light on the cat's whiskers and his translucent pink ears. I study the heart of a flower, the intertwining bare branches of the nearest tree, and I am ready once more to paint.
For as Picasso said, "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working."
